NeighborLink is an online marketplace that connects homeowners with verified local workers for small jobs and tasks. We do not employ workers directly — we provide the platform that enables homeowners ("Clients") and workers ("Pro Workers") to find each other, communicate, and complete work.
We are not a contractor, staffing agency, or employment service. NeighborLink is a technology platform that facilitates connections and processes payments between users. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any job performed through the platform.
For Pro Workers: You must complete the full verification process — including identity verification and background check — before you can bid on or accept jobs. NeighborLink reserves the right to reject or revoke verification at our discretion.
For Homeowners: You must provide a valid email address and accurate ZIP code when posting a job. We may verify your identity before allowing certain high-value job postings.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. NeighborLink will never ask for your password via email or text message. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized account use.
When you post a job on NeighborLink, you represent that:
Prohibited jobs: NeighborLink does not support jobs involving: illegal activities, violence or threats, discriminatory services, work requiring professional licenses that cannot be verified, or anything that would endanger Pro Workers. We may remove any listing at our discretion and suspend accounts that repeatedly post prohibited content.
When a homeowner accepts a worker's bid, a service agreement is formed directly between the homeowner and the worker — NeighborLink is not a party to this contract. The terms of that service agreement (price, scope, timing) are as described in the accepted bid.
Once a booking is accepted, both parties are expected to honor the agreed terms. Workers who accept a job are committing to show up and complete the work as described. Homeowners who accept a bid are committing to be available and provide access at the agreed time.
NeighborLink may assist in rescheduling or mediating scheduling conflicts, but we are not responsible for enforcing bookings between parties.
Platform fee: NeighborLink charges a 15% commission on every completed job. This is deducted automatically when a job is marked complete and payment is processed.
Payment processing: All payments are processed via Stripe through the NeighborLink platform. We do not support cash payments, personal checks, or off-platform transfers. Any payments made outside the platform are not covered by our dispute resolution or insurance protections.
Worker payouts: Workers receive their portion (85% of the job total) via direct deposit to their connected bank account within 3 business days of job completion and confirmation.
NeighborLink does not hold funds beyond what is needed for processing and potential dispute resolution. Platform fees are non-refundable unless a full refund is issued for the entire job.
Homeowner's right to cancel: You may cancel a job before the worker arrives without penalty. If you cancel after the worker has already traveled to your location, please contact us and we will review the circumstances.
Incomplete or failed jobs: If a worker fails to complete the agreed work, does not show up, or performs substantially below the agreed standard, contact us within 48 hours of the scheduled completion time. We will investigate and may issue a partial or full refund at our discretion.
Refund process: Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method. We reserve the right to investigate disputes for up to 14 days before issuing a refund.
NeighborLink will mediate disputes between homeowners and workers when contacted within 48 hours of job completion. We review evidence from both sides — including messages, photos, and job descriptions — before making a determination.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through mediation, NeighborLink reserves the right to issue a refund to the homeowner, withhold payment to the worker, or take no action depending on the evidence presented. Our decision in dispute matters is final.
NeighborLink is not a licensed arbitration service. By using the platform, both parties agree that NeighborLink's dispute resolution decisions are binding up to the value of the job in question.
NeighborLink is a marketplace platform. We are not the employer, agent, or partner of any Pro Worker, and we are not responsible for the actions of workers or homeowners on the platform.
As a homeowner: You acknowledge that workers are independent contractors and not employees of NeighborLink. NeighborLink does not verify the quality of work performed beyond basic account verification. You engage workers at your own discretion.
As a worker: You acknowledge that you are an independent contractor, not an employee of NeighborLink. You are responsible for your own insurance, taxes, tools, and safety. NeighborLink is not liable for any injury, property damage, or financial loss arising from your work.
NeighborLink's total liability for any claim related to the platform is limited to the fees paid by the user for the specific transaction at issue. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
NeighborLink may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you:
Terminated accounts lose access to the platform, pending jobs, and any unclaimed funds. We may report fraudulent activity to relevant law enforcement authorities.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from the use of NeighborLink shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify users via email at least 30 days before the new terms take effect. Your continued use of NeighborLink after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
For minor clarifications or corrections that do not materially affect your rights, we may update the terms without prior notice. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page reflects when the current version was last updated.
